TIA and IoT Community Partnership Drives Digital Transformation

The two organizations have signed an agreement to work together on a set of initiatives regarding smart buildings, connected vehicles, the IoT and more.

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the Internet of Things Community have announced a partnership designed to accelerate the adoption of the IoT and smart building development.

The companies plan to share commercial, technical and standardization data, explore further opportunities for collaboration, and develop IoT solutions that accelerate development.

The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on a set of initiatives that include:

  • Smart buildings
  • Connected vehicles
  • Healthcare
  • Intelligent vehicles

They’ve also agreed to develop and share IoT-related training content and educate various industries on how this advanced technology enhances organizational performance and efficiency and facilitates the sharing of relevant research and data.

“Harnessing the power of the Internet of Things is essential for the successful development of smart buildings and eventually smart cities,” says Harry Smeenk, TIA’s Senior Vice President of Technology Programs. “TIA looks forward to working with the IoT Community to enhance the development of the Internet of Things and enable the digital transformation of smart cities and smart buildings.”
