Inseego, an innovator in the IoT space, has recently announced its all-new R1000 Router will power Verizon’s first multigigabit 5G residential broadband internet service about to be launched in four American cities: Los Angeles, Sacramento, Houston, and Indianapolis.

Inseego’s announcement ends speculation on which router Verizon’s new 5G home broadband will be deploying Verizon’s service, called 5G Home, is already taking pre-orders and is set to go live on Oct. 1.

“Verizon has spearheaded the 5G ecosystem for three years and we’re proud to collaborate with Inseego to make these 5G broadband internet service deployments come to life,” said Chris Emmons, Verizon’s executive director, device and product marketing.

Verizon is the first to bet big on 5G home broadband, with plans to roll out more cities next year. While AT&T has repeatedly argued that it does not see a business case for 5G fixed wireless, Verizon has gambled that, once you build it, use cases will inevitably come.

According to company’s announcement, the Inseego R1000 Router with 4×4 MIMO boasts greater data throughput and supports mesh nodes for expanded coverage, and includes power-over-ethernet and user-replaceable batteries for continuous connectivity, even during power outages.

The Inseego FWA solution also includes Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), helping operators increase ARPU with a unified solution.
