The Department of Energy will lead a new initiative called the Genesis Mission, with the goal of transforming American science and innovation through the power of artificial intelligence (AI). The effort seeks to harness current AI and advanced computing developments to double the productivity and impact of American science and engineering within a decade.
The program will draw on the expertise of roughly 40,000 DOE scientists, engineers, and technical staff, alongside private sector innovators, to build the technologies that will define the future. It will make use of the Department of Energy’s 17 National Laboratories, industry, and academia to build an integrated discovery platform. The platform will connect supercomputers, AI systems, and next-generation quantum systems with advanced scientific instruments.

Amazon announced an investment of up to $50 billion to expand AI and supercomputing capabilities for Amazon Web Services (AWS) U.S. government customers. This investment will add nearly 1.3 gigawatts of AI and supercomputing capacity across AWS Top Secret, AWS Secret, and AWS GovCloud (U.S.) Regions by building data centers with advanced compute and networking technologies.
Additionally, Federal agencies will gain expanded access to AWS’s comprehensive AI services, including Amazon SageMaker AI for model training and customization, Amazon Bedrock for model and agent deployment, Amazon Nova, Anthropic Claude, and other open-weights foundation models, and AWS Trainium AI chips, as well as NVIDIA AI infrastructure, equipping agencies to develop custom AI solutions, optimize massive datasets, and enhance workforce productivity.

The Fraunhofer Industrial Quantum Computing Consulting and Testing Center (INQUBATOR) announced it will implement innovative, easy-access offerings to help industrial users get started with quantum computing. The program aims to enable companies to overcome the hurdles of using quantum computing. To that end, a central element of the INQUBATOR project is easy and cost-effective access to quantum computers from various manufacturers. Additionally, the effort intends to identify and evaluate new application-related use cases where the use of quantum computers promises a foreseeable advantage.
Kyndryl announced new AI-powered services that combine the company’s mainframe expertise with agentic AI and hybrid IT computing capabilities to accelerate application and solutions development, increase operational agility, and unlock new business insights by expanding customers’ AI usage on the platform. Kyndryl’s agentic AI mainframe services are designed to enable IBM z/OS customers to embrace innovative technology, expertise, and AI-infused delivery of services, speeding decision making and simplifying complex processes across application and infrastructure management.
Trend Micro announced it is set to launch Trend Vision One AI Security Package, a solution package delivering proactive, centralized exposure management with unparalleled analytics for AI-driven environments. This new package protects the full AI application stack from model development to runtime, extending proactive security across every stage of AI deployment.

Partnerships, collaborations, and more
SAS announced that SAS Data Maker is now available in the Microsoft Marketplace. After initially making the solution available in this manner, SAS plans for additional supported cloud providers and integration into SAS Viya. Also available in the Microsoft Marketplace is SAS Viya Workbench, a cloud-based coding environment purpose-built for developers, data scientists, and modelers to experiment and build highly performant models fast with SAS, R, or Python through Visual Studio Code, Jupyter Notebook, or SAS Enterprise Guide.
Dassault Systèmes and Mistral AI today announced that they have deepened their partnership to bring integrated, sovereign artificial intelligence services to regulated industries and the public sector in Europe. Mistral AI’s latest products, including “Le Chat Enterprise” AI assistant and “AI Studio” platform for tooling, models, and infrastructure, are now available on Dassault Systèmes’ OUTSCALE sovereign cloud, providing high-performing models for an AI in Europe with the highest confidentiality and security standards.
OpenNebula Systems announced a new collaboration with Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, to deliver OpenNebula Enterprise subscriptions with built-in Ubuntu Pro for enterprise clouds and AI factories. Through this collaboration, OpenNebula customers can now use Ubuntu Pro as a built-in, security-maintained operating system for hypervisor nodes, simplifying OpenNebula installation and adoption while strengthening enterprise security and compliance.
VEON announced that QazCode, VEON’s software company, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the sovereign AI firm MeetKai to develop and train next-generation large language models that will enable deployment of local-language agentic AI services across VEON’s operating markets. This strategic sovereign partnership is designed to accelerate the creation of nationally governed AI capabilities that are culturally fluent, linguistically inclusive, and securely operated within each country’s borders.
Vodacom Group announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud to accelerate its digital transformation using Google Cloud’s advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) product portfolio. Under the terms of the collaboration, Vodacom will harness the capabilities of Google Cloud’s secure, scalable infrastructure to unify its data assets and then apply generative AI models, including Gemini, Veo, and Imagen. The aim of the collaboration is to enhance Vodacom’s core solutions and establish a platform for creating new products and services specifically tailored for the African market.
Xoriant announced the acquisition of TestDevLab, a Latvia-headquartered provider of software quality engineering. With TestDevLab’s acquisition, Xoriant will offer industry-leading capabilities, both in AI for quality engineering and quality engineering for AI. Additionally, TestDevLab’s Baltic and Macedonian delivery centers will further strengthen Xoriant’s European presence with access to top engineering talent and EU innovation ecosystems.
