The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking(EuroHPC JU) added new action pillars to EuroHPC JU’s mandate on the deployment of AI Gigafactories across Europe and the development of quantum technologies. The AI Gigafactories will provide advanced AI computing resources to European researchers, startups, and industrial partners. The new amendment widens the scope of Council Regulation (EU) 2024/1732 and takes the Europe’s AI Factories initiative to the next level with the AI Gigafactories initiative. The Gigafactories will be state-of-the-art, large-scale facilities that offer massive computing power, hosted in energy-efficient data centers supporting the full AI lifecycle, including the development, training, and large-scale inference of very large AI models and applications.

Sovereign AI and Quantum Computing Aspects Abound

Built on an environmentally sustainable compute infrastructure, the AI Gigafactories will reinforce the European Union’s strategic autonomy and competitiveness in advanced AI technologies. They will facilitate the development of powerful and responsible AI models trained on European data, ensuring safe, trustworthy, and ethical AI.

The new quantum technologies pillar will address the full quantum ecosystem, including different application domains of quantum computing and simulation, quantum communication, and quantum sensing and metrology.

Real-time analytics news in brief

EqualAI, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting AI self-governance, released the AI Governance Playbook for Boards. The playbook provides guidance for Boards of Directors to navigate AI oversight while balancing risk management and value creation, addressing legal and compliance issues that accompany the widespread implementation of AI. To that end, the playbook recommends four key steps for boards:

  • Engage in Discovery and Assessment: A comprehensive baseline assessment is essential to understand where AI is currently deployed across an organization and to evaluate the risks it presents.
  • Develop Governance Architecture: Effective oversight requires that Boards organize themselves in a way that enhances meaningful oversight of how AI is deployed across the organization. Boards should consider how AI is deployed both internally within the business and externally to various stakeholders when thinking about the appropriate Board structure.
  • Institute AI Protocols: Board members should ensure the company has adequate processes and governance structures to identify, escalate, and mitigate risks arising from the use of AI.
  • Empower your team to leverage and govern AI: Boards and senior executives must stay informed to proactively adopt new strategies to seize AI opportunities while mitigating risk.

GMI Cloud announced the launch of GMI Studio, a next-generation visual, node-based platform for building scalable AI content workflows. GMI Studio removes the infrastructure complexity, dependency hell, and technical gatekeeping that have prevented creators, teams, and developers from realizing their creative vision with AI. The solution enables users to combine multiple AI models, define custom workflows, and deploy production-ready content generation at scale, all without writing code or managing GPUs.

Microsoft released the Microsoft Quantum Development Kit (QDK), an open-source developer toolkit for building quantum applications. The solution provides everything needed, from simulators to a modern programming experience, for developers to build and execute quantum code, both locally and on quantum hardware. The QDK is integrated with VS Code and GitHub Copilot to help developers write, test, and execute quantum code.

Salesforce announced the expansion of MuleSoft Agent Fabric to automate the discovery of AI agents and tools across the enterprise, solving the critical problem of AI agent governance blind spots in the enterprise. MuleSoft Agent Fabric’s new capabilities are an ecosystem-agnostic solution to automatically find, identify, and catalog agents and tools like MCP servers across any environment. This update centers around new Agent Scanners, giving you the ability to automatically detect and catalog AI agents across Salesforce Agentforce, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, and other agent platforms.

ScyllaDB announced the general availability of its new Vector Search. The solution is built on ScyllaDB’s shard-per-core architecture with a Rust-based extension that leverages the USearch approximate-nearest-neighbor (ANN) search library. The architecture separates storage and indexing responsibilities while keeping the system unified from the user’s perspective. This design allows each layer to scale independently, optimizing for its own workload characteristics and eliminating resource interference.

Tacnode emerged from stealth and introduced Tacnode Context Lake and the general availability of Semantic Operators. The Context Lake system class is defined by Decision Coherence and is designed to support multi-agent systems. Tacnode Context Lake implements this system class by providing AI agents with a shared, live, semantic context layer, enabling coordinated reasoning and action at enterprise scale. With Tacnode Context Lake, AI agents can instantly share knowledge, update collective understanding, and act on data in milliseconds, accelerating intelligence across the enterprise.

VDURA announced the release of the Flash Volatility Index and Storage Economics Optimizer Tool. The Flash Volatility Index provides a transparent view into SSD pricing, tracking how flash media volatility translates into real-world cost exposure and how that compares to the current HDD market. The accompanying Storage Economics Optimizer Tool allows organizations to model total system cost across different storage architectures, performance targets, and media mixes, giving infrastructure teams a way to evaluate trade-offs before committing capital.
