Open source software provider Red Hat recently announced the latest version of its OpenShift Platform Plus, which aims to go beyond the Kubernetes platform and reach data centers, public cloud environments, and edge operations.

Customers will be able to install the latest version of OpenShift Platform Plus directly from the two largest public cloud marketplaces, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

New features also include pod security admission integration, which enables users to define in more granular detail isolation levels for Kubernetes pods; one-click installer provisioned infrastructure for users accessing through Nutanix virtual environments; and additional architectures for sandbox containers.

“As organizations turn to modern applications to deliver better, more dynamic user experiences, they need a platform that delivers consistency, whether it’s a traditional application in a datacenter to containerized-workloads spanning the edge and multiple public clouds,”  said Joe Fernandes, vice president and general manager of Platforms Business Group at Red Hat. “With today’s updates, Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus remains positioned to provide this consistent foundation along with a comprehensive set of integrated tools for enhanced management, improved data resiliency, and a stronger security posture.”

Alongside the updates to OpenShift Platform Plus, Red Hat has also updated the Advanced Cluster Management solution with features aimed at improving availability at high latency and low bandwidth.

Features in this update include automatic fleet-wide visibility of applications created through OpenShift; a new cluster management preview deployed directly from the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform; and integration with Kyverno PolicySet.

Red Hat has also updated its OpenShift Data Foundation storage solution, which now has multicluster monitoring capabilities, through the company’s Advanced Cluster Management service.
