Hitachi and BT Team Up to Create IoT Products

The two brands will combine the cloud and network-infrastructure knowledge of BT with the Hitachi Lumada platform to build IoT products.

edge_2Communications services provider BT and Hitachi Vantara announced they are teaming up to work together to create new IoT services and IoT products for the industrial and enterprise verticals.

The partnership’s goals are to drive better business outcomes including increased productivity and cost savings. They’ll begin by focusing on asset intelligence and predictive maintenance solutions for the manufacturing and transportation sectors.

“Our partnership with Hitachi will help BT to accelerate innovation and ease the path to digitalization and IoT for our customers around the globe. Hitachi’s OT, IT and IoT expertise, long-standing customer engagements and its Lumada IoT Platform will combine ideally with our global infrastructure, cloud services and cybersecurity expertise to create powerful IoT offerings that will help maximise the success of our global customers’ digital transformation journeys,” said Bas Burger, CEO Global Services, BT.

Eyeing advanced data analytics

According to a statement, the partnership will combine BT’s global network infrastructure, security expertise and cloud capabilities with Hitachi’s OT/IT expertise. Lumada IoT platform and IoT portfolio. The companies plan to use their collaboration to help their customers take advantage of advanced data analytics and connected intelligence.

The first business solutions resulting from this collaboration are expected to be available in Q1 2018.
