They will work together to deliver data integration and data quality for big data environments such as Hadoop.

Syncsort, a provider of enterprise software for data collection and management, has announced their acquisition of Trillium Software, a data quality vendor. The acquisition is the largest ever in the 40-year history of Syncsort, which prides itself on offering a “Big Iron to Big Data.”

The companies plan to combine their data quality and data integration technologies for traditional data environments, Hadoop, Spark, and emerging areas such as the Internet of Things and next-generation analytics.

“With most large enterprises making significant investments in Big Data for business and operational analytics, core data integration and data quality workloads are moving into Hadoop at a rapid pace,” said Josh Rogers, CEO, Syncsort. “As a pioneer in bringing high-performance data integration software to the Hadoop ecosystem, Syncsort sees an opportunity to extend our value with Trillium’s proven data quality products. ”

The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
