Gartner recently released their December “Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring Suites” report and recognized three companies as leaders: New Relic, Dynatrace, and AppDynamics.

By 2020, the report predicts that 60 percent of Application Performance Monitoring buyers will come from outside the IT vertical, a sharp increase from the less than 35 percent today. The report goes on to discuss how SaaS-based APM solutions are becoming more and more popular.
“Releases of new products and features are occurring much more rapidly due to a combination of SaaS-based delivery models and the adoption of agile development methods,” it said.

Challengers to the leaders in APM include Dell; IBM; CA Technologies; Hewlett Packard Enterprise; Riverbed Technology; and BMC Software, according to Gartner.
