Retailers are turning to recommendation engines for e-commerce.

At a recent National Retail Federation (NRF) conference in New York, Infinite Analytics showed off its new personalization engine powered by Microsoft Dynamics AX Platform. According to a Jan 20 announcement, the engine provides a bridge between e-commerce and retail locations for omni-channel personalization and customer engagement.

The Infinite Analytics engine uses predictive analytics to provide real-time site and email personalization through buying suggestions. This personalization extends to both mobile and brick-and-mortar stores. Some solutions include catalog marketing optimization, e-commerce search, and content recommendation.

Microsoft has provided several case studies for the Dynamics AX platform. For instance, JJ Food Service, a United Kingdom food delivery service with 60,000 customers, uses Dynamics AX with Azure ML to predict what customers want and recommend products when they log onto the site. The recommendation engine reportedly provides 5 percent of JJ Food Service sales.
