GE Has Already Signed 15 Customers for Digital Power Plant


Predix-enabled software suite for power companies has signed 15 customers in 90 days.

General Electric said it has signed 15 customers in the past 90 days for its Digital Power Plant software suite and has generated over $100 million in software bookings.

The platform enables predictive maintenance and optimized power production.

“GE’s software solutions are unlocking the power of ‘big data’ for the global power generation industry through the convergence of advanced computing, data analytics, low-cost sensing and new levels of connectivity,” said Dick Ayres, general manager of GE’s Power Services Software Solutions, in a Dec. 10 release.

Digital Power Plant is powered by the cloud-based Predix platform, which was designed especially for industrial data. The Digital Power Plant offers several collections of applications including:

Asset Performance Management: Designed to help customers save money by reducing equipment downtime through predictive analytics. GE reports that asset performance management saved customers $70 million in 2014.

Operations Optimization: A suite of apps designed to assist customers in streamlining operations and plant/fleet performance while lowering production costs through enterprise data visibility.

Business Optimization: Available in 2016, this collection of apps will allow customers to use their data for operational and performance broadcasting.

GE’s announcement is part of an ongoing expansion following their acquisition of Alstom’s power and grid assets in November 2015, and Digital Power Plant will be integrated into those assets as well.
